Full description

Acorn Mouldings Limited is a small, family owned and run plastic injection moulders and assemblers. We are trade moulders and make plastic components and assemblies for the automotive, aerospace, safety, sports and toy sectors. We are looking for someone to join our 15 strong work-force. The role will be varied (we all have to chip-in when needed) but will mainly consist of helping to operate our injection moulding machines, carrying out assembly of components, and assisting the production team with maintenance of our plant and machinery.

The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, reliable, driven, willing to learn and be prepared to turn their hand to any aspect of our operations. In turn, the successful candidate will be rewarded with the opportunity to experience and learn about all aspects of our manufacturing operations with the full support and encouragement of our very experienced and friendly team. Our hope is that we will find someone who will stay with us in the long term and progress to a senior role within the Company - we hope that someone will be you!

This role will be in our Quality Team. Our Quality Team carries out the following roles on a day-to-day basis:

  • Inspection of production on our injection moulding machines to ensure that it is defect free;
  • Sorting and separation of good product from bad;
  • Dimensional inspection of parts against technical drawings;
  • Ensuring quality control paperwork is correctly completed and up-to-date;
  • Working with our Production Team to ensure any problems in production are resolved;
  • Assisting our Stores Team with inspection and packaging of good production;
  • Assisting with assembly of products (when demand requires);
  • Carrying out periodic internal audits of systems;
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards (customer specified, ISO9001-2015, IATF16949 etc).

It is anticipated that, over the course of an apprenticeship, the apprentice will either assist with or carry out all of the above. Completion of an apprenticeship will facilitate progression to the following roles within the Company (subject to suitability, further experience and training):

  • Quality Auditor;
  • Senior Quality Auditor;
  • Quality Manager.

Applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Centre with Vision Apprentices as part of the screening process.

The employer reserves the right to close this vacancy early should a suitable candidate be identified prior to the published closing date
