Riverlyn Medical Centre is a small, friendly practice with 3,000 patients who pride themselves on providing exceptional levels of patient care and that could all begin with you.

The practice is now in a position to offer an apprenticeship to an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking person who would like to make a career within General Practice.

The purpose of the role is offer general assistance to the practice team and to project a friendly welcome to visitors either in person or via the telephone.

You will receive, assist and direct patients to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective manner and undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.

You will be supported by both a work place mentor and an assessor to enable you to complete a Business Administration qualification.

Your main duties will be;

  • Deal with general telephone enquiries from patients and general public
  • Record requests for home visits
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Taking messages and passing on information to relevant team members
  • Filing and retrieving paper work including prescriptions
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice and staff as required from time to time, including work/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
  • Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
  • Keeping the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
  • Clearing and restocking consulting rooms as required

Applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Centre with Vision Apprentices as part of the screening process.
