Full description

Skegby Family Medical Centre is a General Practice providing primary health care within the NHS to over 9000 patients in and around the local area. They are a practice of 4 GP Partners, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses and 2 Health Care Assistants. They are supported by a strong administration team including a practice manager, secretaries, receptionists and administrators

They now require an enthusiastic person to join them as an apprentice, the role will be diverse and fast paced and may lead to a permanent position. The ideal candidate will be someone with a possible interest in IT, who will be a good team player and happy to work in a pressurised environment and who will be confident dealing with patients as there training progresses.

This is an interesting and varied role which will involve working in a fast paced environment, you will need to be able to work as part of a team but also using your own initiative. Your main responsibility will be to assist the administration team ensuring processes run smoothly. You will need to be smartly presented and well mannered. This role would suit somebody keen to build a career in an administrative field. During your time as an apprentice you will be supported by a buddy and will receive regular progress reviews.

Your main duties will include:

  • Assisting the administration team with general tasks including filing, scanning, photocopying of notes, preparation of files, post room functions,
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries
  • Inputting data into spreadsheets
  • Working with MS Packages for mailshots/mergers etc.
  • Keeping on top of stock levels and re-ordering in a timely fashion
  • Maintenance of the chronic disease register which will involve patient contact via telephone to book appointments
  • Assisting when required on the main reception desk(after approx. 6 months)

Applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Centre with Vision Apprentices as part of the screening process.
