The Adventure Service specialises in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences for all, including children and adults with learning disabilities. They offer a wide range of adventure based activities which include mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, weaselling, bush craft, canoeing, hillwalking to name just a few. Each adventurer is supported and encouraged to as much as they can from preparing and setting up activities to pushing themselves to reach their goals.

The posts on offer will be based with the Day Service. This offers targeted personal development for teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. You will be required to work with the service users and their families to support the delivery of the day service activities.

This will include providing a range of personal and practical care duties, contributing to the overall care plan requirements. To achieve this you will need to be a good, clear communicator and be able to work with service users, relatives and other staff confidently ensuring confidentiality at all times.

You will be supported by the close, experienced team to develop both your caring and adventuring tasks to ensure that you provide the high level of care and support required by the service users. You will also be supported to achieve a Level 2 Adult Care Apprenticeship Standard which includes a diploma in Health and Social Care.

The Adventure Service has two sites both within Nottinghamshire, Park Road in Mansfield Woodhouse and Top Valley Way, Top Valley, Nottingham. You will be based at the Mansfield Woodhouse site but as some activities take place at the Top Valley site you will be required to work from both sites. Candidates with a driving licence would be preferable however this is not essential as there are regular journeys between both sites taking place.

  1. To work under the guidance and instruction of the management team and instructors.
  2. To provide the care package which has been agreed which is suitable and appropriate to the service user's needs, whilst respecting individual privacy and dignity.
  3. To work positively with service users who display challenging behaviour.
  4. To seek medical advice/treatment in an emergency.
  5. To promote the independence, self-esteem and positive identity of the service users.
  6. To promote the involvement and empowerment of service users.
  7. To be trained in and use any equipment as directed by the care plan.
  8. To support service users in engaging in a group activity
  9. To support service users to promote an identified developmental need (e.g. to use public transport).
  10. To work jointly with a colleague to provide support.
  11. To identify and accurately communicate observed changes in service users' needs and contribute to the care plan.
  12. To keep accurate and up to date records and adherence to safeguarding, audit, performance review and other procedures.
  13. To attend meetings as appropriate, receive supervision and training; and otherwise contribute to the efficiency of the service.
  14. To maintain current knowledge of practice issues and developments within the post holder's field of work.
  15. To work with agreed Health protocols where necessary
  16. To report incidents, concerns and observations to the service manager.

Applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Centre with Vision Apprentices as part of the screening process.
